Today, the use of omics sciences in the food industry is essential to address the trend towards personalisation of nutritional recommendations and to promote health, the maintenance and optimization of physiological functions and the prevention of diseases.
However, despite their enormous potential, the incorporation of omics technologies into research and business development in the healthy eating sector is still very limited. The Red TecnomiFood works to change this situation, generating scientific and advanced knowledge in the use of omics in food areas.

The Red Tecnomifood, together with its Eurecat partners, have organised the webinar “Application of omics sciences in research, innovation and development of ingredients, nutraceuticals and innovative functional foods“, with the aim of providing an overview of the applicability of the omics sciences to industrial research in food and to establish criteria for decision-making regarding the application of omics in research projects.
Nuria Canela, director of the Eurecat Omic Sciences unit and Josep Mª del Bas, director of the Nutrition and Health unit, presented the general vision of the applicability of omic sciences in industrial research in food, and defined how to establish criteria for make decisions about the application of studies in research projects and presented real success stories on the application of omics sciences in pre-clinical and clinical studies.
