Abstract
The importance of lipidomics to unveil crucial aspects in the nutrition field is afforded in this article. After considering basic and analytical aspects of lipidomics and the upstream information this omics provides, its key role in personalized nutrition (PN), and the importance of lipids as nutrition biomarkers are critically discussed by appropriate examples.
Importance of the article for the RedTecnomifood
This article addresses the importance of lipidomics in nutrition. The analytical aspects of lipidomics, its key role in personalized nutrition (PN), as well as the importance of lipids as nutrition biomarkers are discussed. It also raises challenges such as the design of new biomarkers based on lipidomics, uncovering the mechanisms involved in lipidomics processes, and integrating lipidomics with other omics to obtain more complete and validated information useful in PN.
