Abstract

A team of researchers recently published a paper on the role of algae extract in mitigating the so-called “cytokine storm,” the immune reaction believed to be behind the most serious symptoms of COVID-19. In the text, published in the journal Marine Biotechnology, the researchers note that the work is at an early stage with results seen under in vitro test conditions, but underline the European regulatory acceptance of Spirulina as a dietary supplement as reasons for the optimism.
