Abstract
Kiwi contains bioactive compounds with potential anti-inflammatory properties. In this study, the protective effects of kiwi on gastric and duodenal damage induced by soluble aspirin in healthy rats are investigated. Diets based on this fruit manifest clear effects on the expression of genes related to inflammation, as well as gastro-protective effects.
Importance of the article for the Red Tecnomifood
The study showed that rats treated with aspirin, previously fed kiwi fruit, showed significant changes in the expression of genes related to inflammation NOS2 and TNF-alpha, and on genes with gastro-protective effects. This is completely in line with the approach made in the Red Tecnomifood, regarding the application of omics technologies to the development of functional and personalized foods, and highlights the effect that diet has on the prevention of certain pathologies.
