Description of the infrastructure

AZTI offers a comprehensive service to the food industry to design, develop and validate functional and nutraceutical foods that incorporate ingredients with health properties, which have been identified through omics studies. Both the functionality of these ingredients in the body as well as the elaboration, processing and conservation techniques that guarantee the functionality in the finished product are taken into account.

 

AZTI has state-of-the-art laboratories, equipped with cutting-edge technology and innovative infrastructures:

 

  • Microstructures Laboratory.
  • Biological safety laboratories (PIII), both for viruses and bacteria.
  • Biological Laboratories: Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Cell cultures.
  • Physical-Chemical analysis laboratories.
  • R&D laboratories.
  • Biodetection Laboratories.
  • Sensory Analysis Laboratory.

 

AZTI has laboratories equipped with level 2 and 3 biosafety cabinets, bio2 advance3 laminar flow cabinet, prepared to process samples for clinical analysis, with potentially infectious biological samples (saliva, blood, human feces) to be able to carry out omic analyzes. The laboratories are equipped for the processing of samples and their subsequent analysis using different equipment: Gas chromatography (CG-ECD, CG-MICROECD, CG-FID, CG-MS, CG-PTV, CG-NEP-ECD, CG-TCD- FID), Liquid chromatography (HPLCs, with DAD and IR and MS.). Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (EEAA with graphite chamber, flame and hydride generation), Nutrient analyzer, UV-VIS spectrophotometers, etc.
