Abstract
The American company Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes (acquired by ADM) has launched a prebiotic ingredient called PreforPro for supplements that is based on a bacteriophage. The company states that “by using phages that target unwanted bacteria in the intestine, it is capable of modulating the intestinal microbiota and also does not cause the side effects, such as bloating and flatulence, associated with conventional prebiotics.”
