Study links gut microbe metabolism to longevity
Comments
Abstract
Unique bile acids produced by a particular set of gut microbes in the Odoribacteraceae family may contribute to longevity by inhibiting the growth of gut pathogens, says a new study involving 160 people over 100 in Japan.
These bacteria, present in the feces of centenarians, can produce isoalloLCA, with powerful antimicrobial effects and that can contribute to intestinal homeostasis.
